First baseball post of the season
I had mentioned a while ago that pretty much the only professional sport that I follow regularly is baseball. Although we're six or seven weeks into the season, I've yet to comment. (Too bad I missed my opportunity to express my schadenfreude over the Yankees' travails last week; now they seem to be on a hot streak. Oh, well...)

I would be very interested to read what you find attractive/compelling about baseball. I watch it a LOT (as an NYC resident and a Seattle native, I can't help but pay it close attention). I like to keep track of stats, player misbehavior, etc., so I can use these things to needle my baseball-loving pals with, but otherwise, I find baseball to be incredibly boring. Many of my pals view baseball as a an alternative form of religion. I absolutely cannot understand this.

"I find baseball to be incredibly boring." Yes, Hedwig, you are correct! The only entertainment I get out of baseball is by telling fans that it isn't really a sport at all. That leads to much entertainment!

The only real sport/game to follow is Rugby League, especially the Australians, but the Brits are not too bad.
ReplyDeleteHedwig: If you find baseball incredibly boring, why would you go to the effort to keep up on stats, etc., even to use to needle your baseball-loving pals with?
ReplyDeleteJeff Kent should so be manning 2nd base. He was at his porn-stash peak with the Giants (the picture of him in a Dodger uniform at the bottom of the page doesn't do the 'stash justice).
ReplyDeleteHe was the first player I ever saw that made me think, "This dude should so be in porno."
