Peter Bowditch's 2004 Millenium Awards

One of the best skeptical websites/blogs out there is Peter Bowditch's Millenium Project. I first encountered Peter a couple of years ago on Usenet on misc.health.alternative, and his site was one of my influences when I started blogging. Although Peter concentrates mostly on quackery and bogus alternative medicine claims (like Hulda Clark, whom I've also taken on), he by no means limits himself to those areas. He also takes on psychics, MLM scammers, and a wide variety of pseudoscientists (although he reserves some of his nastiest comments for anti-vaccination activists, whom he terms "anti-vaccination liars"). His site is educational and entertaining, particularly the responses to his letters to various quacks and scammers that he regularly posts. Every year, he comes up with a list of the worst of the worst sites, called the Millenium Awards. He describes the awards thusly:
Each year, the worst of The Millenium Project's target sites are given suitable awards. The awards are the Anus Maximus Award for the worst of the worst, and other awards in the Highly Commended and Encouragement Awards categories. The sites winning awards are ones that I remember and are not necessarily the worst sites here, because my brain and stomach could not take looking at and reading every one of the thousand sites again. Please note that "highly commended" is a prize-giving expression and does not mean either "highly recommended" or "highly commendable". Just the opposite, in fact.
Over the weekend, Peter announced the "winners" (if you can call them that) of the 2004 Millenium Awards. I'm glad to see that he agrees with me that the Westboro Baptist Church (of "God hates fags" infamy) deserves a dishonor, but his other "awardees" are certainly as "deserving" as the foul bigot Fred Phelps.

  5. Hey orac! I forgot to mention if you're talking to Bowditch, ask him where his membership to the Australian Computer Society went. And ask him why the NSW police keep visiting the homestead and world headquarters of the Gebesse Computer Consultants and the Australian Council Against Health Fraud. Oh ya, and ask the pompous walla walla who the fuck died and bequeathed health care regulation to him. (Did I call him a pompous fuck yet?)

  6. The Gutless Annonymous Coward, in addition to being one, is devoid of intellectual honesty.

  12. It is true that Peter is a loser. He does more harm than he does good and is a coward. He is mostly disliked by everyone he communicates with. He is sadistic and malicious and likes to get under peoples skin for some kind of ego-gratification. Gebbesse is bankrupt, he suffers from no business, no friends, no life and dementia. It is true he is a loser.

  18. I know I said that from now on I would delete your comments without commenting on them myself, but I'll make an exception in this case due to the number of abusive comments you made in such a short time. Obviously you were trying to get my attention. You got it.

I've forwarded all of your comments to Peter, just so that he is aware that you are posting what you claim to be his telephone number as comments on my blog. I'm also shutting down comments on this particular post.
