A sign of the times

In Britain, a cell phone ringtone--"Crazy Frog Axel F," a ring tone based on the sound of a revving Swedish mo-ped--has become a #1 hit, outselling the new single by Coldplay by a four-to-one ratio. Coldplay is reportedly bummed, having hoped to go straight to #1 with their single, "Speed of Sound."

Expect to see more of this, although not among us old farts.

  2. I despise this cult of the ringtone. I'm not an old fart, but the money used to purchase one of these could be given to charity, how many vitamin pills could be purchased for children in the third world for £3? Quite a few.

  3. Actually, I kind of like ringtones. However, they are way overpriced. Consequently, I usually download free midi files, edit them down to 30 seconds, and then upload them to my phone.
